Artist’s Statement – Helen Blair
Helen Blair is a Dublin based artist who originally qualified as an architect. Having worked both as an architect and artist for several years, she finally ceased to practice as an architect in 2009 and now works full-time as an artist. She has exhibited in several group shows and solo exhibitions.
Much of her work is based on the theme of Creation, exploring our origins, the relationship between the human and the cosmos and the interconnectedness of everything that is manifest. The work is in complete contrast to the structured work she was involved with as an architect. Ethereal and otherworldly, it hovers between reality and dreamscapes. The images, though often resonant of sky and seascapes, are more surreal and imaginary. Her aim is to bring the viewer to the edge and encourage them to look beyond the everyday into the mysterious. The work is extremely important to her as a way of expressing a deep spiritual connection and personal philosophy in a way that she hopes can also resonate with others.
